Fees & Bursaries
Minimize

It is important that you read all the details below.

The iTeach programme is only open to people who are classified by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) as Home/EU Students.

The iTeach Programme is not available to overseas students or overseas trained teachers at this time.

Although the programme is available throughout the UK, potential applicants must ensure that they are able to complete at least two of the three school placements in England.

At least two of the three placements must be undertaken in schools in England. The other placement may be undertaken outside England but the school must follow the English National Curriculum.

Participants on the programme are liable for Canterbury Christ Church variable tuition fees. The cousre is a full time PGCE with additional Subject Knowledge Enhancement.

Fees can be paid in instalments, as they come within the remit of the Student Loans Company and can therefore be offset by a range of Canterbury Christ Church University internal bursaries.

Student Fees

Find out more about students fees and loans by visiting the Student Fees area of the Canterbury Christ Church University web site.

Bursary Information

All designated ‘Home Students' will receive a Training & Development Agency (TDA) training bursary for the programme.

How and when can I claim my bursary?

When you start your course you will be asked to formally declare whether you have ever received a Training and Development Agency (TDA) bursary before. If not, then you will be eligible for funding.

We require you to provide us with your bank account details, as bursaries are automatically paid into your bank on a monthly basis, excluding the months of July, August and September.

The bursary is automatically paid to all students who are registered on the iTeach programme. It is paid on an instalment basis. The bursary is not taxable and there is nothing to pay back.

Childcare fees are not funded for the placement period.

Golden Hello

Qualified maths and science teachers may also apply for a one-off ‘golden hello’,  paid after successfully completing the induction period whilst teaching in school.

Please see the TDA web site at www.tda.gov.uk for more information.

Local Authority Forms

Local Authority Finder

All students applying from the UK are advised to contact their Local Authority as soon as possible to request a PN1 form.

After you have completed and returned your form to your Local Authority the Student Loans Company (SLC) will be informed.

Students that apply to the SLC will pay their tuition fees directly through the SLC to the University and an invoice will not be raised to the student.

Students that do not apply to the SLC will be invoiced a few weeks after the start date of the programme.

On a daily basis, the online SLC system communicates with Canterbury Christ Church University registry. After we have received and processed your enrolment document the University is then able to confirm your status to the Student Loans Company and your loan can then be released.

This procedure can take a long time, so the earlier you complete this, the better. We would always advise taking copies of everything that you post to your authority, just in case your forms get mislaid at any time.
