All applicants are required to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. To start this process a Self-Declaration Form and proof of identity must be provided at interview. Once an offer of a place is made candidates will be sent the full CRB Disclosure Application Form to complete.

Stage 1

Self-Declaration Form

You are required to submit this information even if you currently hold a CRB certificate.
The Self-Declaration Form must be submitted in order for us to release the outcome of your interview. Any details declared will not affect your interview, and any information disclosed will remain confidential to iTeach staff dealing with the CRB process.

Candidates for teaching are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and therefore you must include details of all, and any offences, even if they are 'spent'. A criminal conviction, caution, or bind over is not in itself an automatic bar to enrolment on a programme, but failure to disclose something which later appears on your CRB Disclosure Certificate could result in expulsion from this institution or legal action.

Proof of Identity

Part of the CRB process requires you to provide original documentation to prove who you are and where you live.

Please bring your ORIGINALS and ONE PHOTOCOPY of each item that you decide to produce. This will allow us to verify the originals, which you can then take home. The only exception to this is where financial information is being given, i.e. bank statements etc., where no photocopy is required.

Stage 2

CRB Disclosure Application Form

If you are successful in gaining a place after your interview the next stage is that you will be sent the CRB Disclosure Application Form to complete and return to the iTeach office with a cheque for £5.00, made payable to iTeach - Canterbury Christ Church University.

Proof of Identity

To confirm your identity you need to provide original documentation PLUS photocopies as follows:

• Your passport
• Either one document from Group 1 and two documents from Group 1 or Group 2
• Or five documents from Group 2

All documents must be in your current name.
At least one document must show your current address.
At least one document must show your date of birth.

Group 1

• UK Driving Licence (either photocard or paper)
• Original UK Birth Certificate (issued with 12 months of the date of birth) (full or short form acceptable)
• Valid photo identity card (EU countries only)
• UK firearms licence

Group 2

• Marriage certificate
• Non-original UK birth certificate (issued after 12 months of date of birth) (full or short form acceptable)
• P45/P60 Statement**
• Bank or building society statement*
• Utility bill (electricity, gas, water, telephone – including mobile phone contract/bill)*
• Valid TV licence
• Credit card statement*
• Store card statement*
• Mortgage statement*
• Valid insurance certificate
• Certificate of British nationality
• British work permit/visa**
• Correspondence or a document form: the Benefits Agency, the Employment Service, the Inland Revenue, or a Local Authority*
• Financial statement (e.g. pension, endowment, ISA)**
• Valid vehicle registration document
• Mail order catalogue statement*
• Court summons**
• Valid NHS card
• Addressed payslip*
• National Insurance number card
• Exam certificate (e.g. GCSE,NVQ)

PLEASE DO NOT POST any of these items to us as we can not guarantee the safe arrival or return of these documents. Your documents will be checked during the interview process.

All applicants who are called to an iTeach interview are required to provide evidence of their qualifications on the day of the interview.

If you have overseas qualifications please contact the National Recognition Information Centre for the UK (UK NARIC) to obtain comparability information to demonstrate your suitability for entry into further study.

Without proof of your qualifications we are unable to register you as student of the University.

We CANNOT accept the following:

• Photocopies
• Faxes
• Transcripts without an official university/college stamp or signature from an official body
• Degree certificates which do not give the degree classification
• Documents in a language other than English if not accompanied by a certified translation
• Any document that is supplied by an official body without a stamp or signature (i.e. looks like a photocopy or computer print out)

Original documents which look like they could have been generated by a fax or photocopying machine must be stamped or signed in coloured ink by the institution awarding the qualification. Failure to do comply will result in your documents being refused at registration.
