Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers in England and Wales offer the ‘Professional Postgraduate Certificate in Education’ (PGCE) and/or a ‘Postgraduate Certificate in Education’ (PGCE) qualification with the recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Students registering on the iTeach Programme will, upon successful completion of the programme, obtain either the ‘Professional Postgraduate Certificate in Education’ (PGCE) or a ‘Postgraduate Certificate in Education’ (PGCE). Which award is made depends on the level achieved.
The course is a full time PGCE over a 20 month period. There is flexibility in the delivery of study materials on-line but there are fixed points for tutorials, assessments and school esperience.
Fees are payable for this course.
Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), in their first year of teaching, have their QTS status confirmed after a three-term period of assessment. This period of assessment is generally conducted in a single school year.
Refer to the TDA web site for more details of teaching qualifications.
